" Trusting Partnerships" conference was held
30th October to 1st November 2008
Novotel Lakeside, Rotorua, New Zealand



Parent to Parent in conjunction with Standards Plus held its annual national conference in Rotorua this year.

Theme - "Trusting Partnerships" - Establishing "right relationships' between families, disabled people, organisations, service providers and community.

Key Note Speakers were - Ann and Rud Turnbull
Ann and Rud are both Professors in the Kansas Department of Special Education and Co-Directors at the Beach Center on Disability at the University of Kansas. The Beach Center is a permanent unit of The University of Kansas, a major international center for research and other scholarship, teaching, learning, and service to the citizens of Kansas, The United States of America, and people throughout the world.

Ann and Rud are the parents of a son with a disability and are widely published authors, including the authors of "Families, Professionals and Exceptionality". (see www.beachcenter.org)

Michael J. Kendrick PhD.
Michael is well known internationally for his work on the promotion and development of right relationship. He has a reputation as an international leader in areas including service quality, leadership, the creation of safeguards for vunerable persons, social intergration, alternatives to bureaucracy, personalised approaches to supporting people, and reform in the human service field amongst others. He has most consistently worked in the disability, mental health and aged care fields for nearly thirty years. (see www.kendrickconsulting.org)
